administrators. this after a teacher was arrested for having an inappropriate relationship with a student. coming up, an update on what parents are being told. following developing news, a 11-year-old girl is in critical condition after being hit by a suv while riding her bike. news chopper 2 caught site of the skid marks and the damaged suv. investigators tell us the girl was riding her bike home from school when she was hit and thrown 100 feet. she was airlifted to the hospital. the driver is cooperating with police. the girl's family just moved to the neighborhood a few weeks ago. cell phone thefts are not unusual but in one city they are more violence. ktvu's patty lee is live in san francisco with the action one victim is taking a try to stop the trend. patty? >> reporter: an ipad was stolen

stealing her children. police are investigating. a security firm hired to guard federal courthouses agreed to a $1.9 million settlement today. the department of justice extended the time for fire arm tests out of fear the guards might not pass. guards in san jose, oakland and san francisco were the only ones given the improper tests. the jail population in san francisco is at its lower level in 40 years. they talked to about the city's progress since the public safety realignment act went into effect. the district attorney says the city is doing a great job. >> we are becoming a modern for the state and for the nation as well in how to be smart in dealing with the criminal justice system. >> san francisco created the

francisco police cleared out a occupy encampment over night. they made 2 dozen arrests. crews came in and clear it out. investigators ruled a deadly crash was the fault of a parolee that led police on a chase. he and his passenger died in the accident. authorities say the chase reached speeds up to 80 miles an hour before he collided with a suv. rights now parents at a school are hearing from administrators after the arrest of a teacher on charges of lewd conduct with a child. ktvu's cara liu is live where the teacher is now on administrative leave. >> reporter: 80 people are crammed into the school for a meeting that is still going on

right now. this is a parent's only meeting. still a lot of shock and concerned after james izumizaki, a well liked and respected teacher, was arrested yesterday. police say james izumizaki was booked on suspicion of a lewd act with a child under 14. cameras were asked to wait outside but parents had a lot of questions. many were concerned over how staff was talking to kids about what happened, as well as whether they were making sure students were given the support they needed. the superintendent said the students will be redistributed to other classes starting monday. >> my concern is the continuity of education and how they will be handled. my daughter had a lot of questions. i was told there were a lot of students in tears today. my concern is just how everything will get handled and

this not be a huge distraction to education. >> reporter: majority of parents who talked to us were positive on this teacher. only one felt he was too friendly with kids, texting students. counselors are available for students tomorrow and next week and parents and faculty tell us they are waiting to see what happens with the allegations against the teacher. they want the investigation to take its course. cara liu, ktvu channel 2 news. the district attorney is considering filing charges against a police officer who was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence. thomas hauschild was arrested on tuesday and now out on jail. so far no charges have been filed. thomas hauschild was placed on administrative leave. the district attorney says he is cooperating with the investigation. today cal train received a

$40 million infusion for major improvements. the money will be used to install a new signal system. it will help prevent collisions and enforce speed restrictions as well as optimize the number of trains per hour. it was just a small amount compared to the money allocated for the entire project. the goal is to have electric trains by 2019 so the system can be integrated with the high- speed rail. the first step creates 9600 jobs and could bring $2.5 billion to the area door to officials -- according to officials. fog is at the coast right now. you see it is coming across the bay now. you see the fog towards burgly and oakland. fog -- berkeley and oakland.
